About Prabha

Prabha Acharya, Psychotherapist and Coach.

Hey there, I am a psychotherapist and a mental health coach. I hold a master’s in Psychology. I also have a diploma in child psychology; and art therapy. I am a CTAA (Complementary Therapist aCcredited Association) member practicing as an Art Therapist and also an Emotional Intelligence Practitioner. I am also certified by Albert Ellis as an REBT Practitioner.

In my therapy sessions, I engage in an eclectic approach. In other words, I engage in a flexible and multifaceted approach to therapy that allows me to use the most effective methods available to address each individual client’s needs.

After being through therapy myself, I realized the effectiveness of such an integrative approach in bringing insight and acceptance. Hence, I equipped myself as a counselor to provide the same to my clients. I believe that therapy is not just about having serious conversations, but it’s also an opportunity to have fun, experience personal growth, and create positive changes in your life. I am committed to providing you with personalized care and helping you achieve your goals.

Testimonial

It was a very comfortable and satisfying session with Prabha. I love the way the conversations organically unfolded with her. It is not so usual to find somebody who genuinely knows what they are doing, I am glad I found her. She effortlessly made me feel heard and understood, which made me feel like I really mattered. It further helped me acknowledge and accept my own flaws and inadequacies.
- Nanditha ( Counseling session)
She guided the students about the various elements of EI, ensuring it was an informative session. I would surely recommend their sessions to students, and parents to develop better emotional skills.
– College faculty (EI coach)
Prabha knew exactly what to offer to the kids of our organisation. She had beautifully designed activities and workshops bearing in mind the age and demographic background of the children she was dealing with. The children enjoyed playing with colours and listening to stories while learning about emotions and their importance. They had an immersive session learning the concepts of Emotional intelligence with ease.

Research

I am a curious person, trying to find reasons and investigate ideas and matters. To know more and satisfy this gremlin lil brain I research on topics that instigate me.

Prabha Acharya, Psychotherapist and Coach. Journaling

On personally experiencing the potentiality of journaling, I wished to study the impact it had on the psychological well-being of young adults. To assess psychological well-being, I used Carol Ryff’s model of measurement. It was a study on early adults, i.e., 18 to 30 years of age.

The study involved a mixed research design (quantitative and qualitative). The population of respondents was divided into two categories, i.e., those who have been practising journaling for at least 1 year, and those individuals who had never journaled in life. The impact was observed through statistical analysis.

Prabha Acharya, Psychotherapist and Coach. Art journaling

As an art enthusiast, I was keen to understand how art tools can impact emotional learning. This research was a pilot study, where various art tools such as scribbles, mandalas, finger painting, etc. were used, to observe emotional shifts in the respondents. The audience of the research was children ranging from 5-18 years of age.

As an independent researcher, I have also been constantly working on other topics such as the Effect of colors on Alexithymia patients, the Impact of doodling on mental health, etc.
